Overview

The Peer Mentorship program helps students acclimatize to Gallaudet socially, personally, and academically. New students must take the course GSR 101: First-Year Seminar (FYS), in which a peer mentor is assigned. Peer mentors help new students with the following services:
  • Provide one-on-one peer mentorship
  • Connect students to use university resources for academics and self-development skills
  • Emerge in the signing community
  • Experience many learning and interactive trips around the Washington, D.C. area
All Peer Mentors are upper-class students who receive ongoing training on mentoring skills and interpersonal relationships and must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
