Accreditation
Gallaudet University has been continuously accredited since 1957
Gallaudet University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)*.
We conducted a self-study from 2021 to 2023 using a Standards-Based Approach, addressing all seven standards for our reaffirmation of accreditation as part of our ten-year cycle. Going forward, Gallaudet University will align with the MSCHE eight-year cycle with the next reaffirmation of accreditation scheduled for AY 2030-2031.
Dr. Caroline Kobek Pezzarossi is the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Certification and also serves as the University’s Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO). Visit our MSCHE Self-Study Timeline.

* The U.S. Department of Education recognizes MSCHE as a reliable authority on the quality of education offered by higher education institutions and for certifying institutional eligibility for federal funding in various programs, including student access to federal financial aid.
Since 1957, Gallaudet University has been a proud part of MSCHE. We work closely with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), and our work with them is a way to make sure that Gallaudet University is accredited.
