Overview

While Professional Studies and Training (PST) courses do not count toward a Gallaudet degree, many are eligible for Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf-CEU credits. These highly flexible courses are offered on-campus, online, or both. Courses are open to adults with a high school diploma or its equivalent, undergraduate and graduate students, and visiting students from other colleges.

Course subjects include but are not limited to: ASL Research and Education, Deaf Studies, Linguistics, Interpreting, and Deaf Education. There are three types of Professional Studies courses:

  • PST-prefixed courses are designated as individual courses and generally do not lead to a professional studies certificate. These courses may only be offered through CCE or cross-listed with undergraduate courses.
  • PSU-prefixed courses are undergraduate-level courses and may be cross-listed with undergraduate courses/programs. They also may be a part of an undergraduate-level professional studies certificate program.
  • PSG-prefixed courses are graduate-level courses and may be cross-listed with graduate courses/programs. They also may be part of a graduate-level professional studies certificate program.

In partnership with ed2go, Gallaudet University offers flexible, self-paced non-credit certificate programs to help you start a new career or advance within your current occupation.  Each course is developed by a team of experts and comes with a dedicated advising team to support you as you train for jobs in high-demand fields and prepare for nationally recognized certifications.  Get industry certified in IT, business, healthcare, legal studies, and more.  Upon completing your program with a passing score, you’ll get a certificate of completion from Gallaudet University, and when applicable, a voucher to sit for the certification exam. However, these courses do not contain ASL content; these courses are designed to ensure accessibility by providing captions and transcripts. If you have questions about the accessibility of a course, please Contact Ed2Go.
