Overview

The Dean of the Faculty is the representative of the Faculty to the President. They serve as a member of the President’s executive staff and have standing equal to that of the rank of Vice President.

Working with the President and Faculty, our office has the administrative and planning responsibility for educational policies and the academic programs at Gallaudet University.

Departments

Center for Black Deaf Studies (CBDS)
The Center for Black Deaf Studies (CBDS) operates as an outreach center for teaching and learning about the Black Deaf experience and provide easy access to a range of useful content resources.
Center for Democracy in Deaf America (CDDA)
The CDDA is a Gallaudet-based non-partisan organization championing the development of skills in democratic excellence by means of debate, civic engagement, and disagreement.
Gallaudet in Nigeria-Africa (GAIN)
GAIN is a revolutionary education program on mission to promote institutional and national academic cooperation for deaf education in Africa. Gallaudet University, Wesley University Ondo, and the Nigerian National Association of the Deaf (NNAD) have collaborated in their vision of providing direct multilingual tertiary education to Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing communities, positioning them to reach their full potential, open career pathways, and thrive as citizens in their country.
Gallaudet Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute
Gallaudet Innovation & Entrepreneurship Institute is a donor-based program that supports student entrepreneurship education at Gallaudet University. Students at Gallaudet will foster an entrepreneurial mindset and participate in a supportive environment that pushes them to think creatively. GIEI will provide students with a platform that is safe for smart experimentation as well as access to entrepreneur resources, workshops, competitions, internships, mentoring, and networking opportunities throughout the academic year.

Programs

Center for Teaching and Learning
The Faculty Development committee advocates for university resources to support the faculty members to achieve professional excellence in their roles as dynamic educators and members of the diverse, bilingual, and multicultural Gallaudet University community.
Educational Neuroscience
Students in our pioneering PEN program gain state-of-the-art Cognitive Neuroscience training in how humans learn with access to Gallaudet's Motion Light Lab, Petitto Brain and Language Lab, and more.
General Education
The General Education program prepares students for life in the modern world by developing their critical thinking and communication skills.
Honors Program
The Honors Program is at the forefront of developing the next generation of great thought leaders. The program provides students with an advanced academic experience that is both challenging and rewarding, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in competitive job markets or advancement into graduate programs.
Self-Directed Major
The Self-Directed Major program is created for self-motivated and independent students who don’t find current major options to be the best fit for their academic interests. Students interested in the program may apply in the second semester of their sophomore year after completing two years of general studies courses required for all majors.
