Workday at Gallaudet
Lindsay’s experience on the Workday Student...
My experience with Workday has been very enriching. I’ll admit it’s not been the smoothest experience, but it’s been good and fabulous overall. This is because it really forced us to revisit our business processes and review whether what we’re doing now should continue to apply in the future.
It’s also about how it impacts the students’ experience more – are things good for students or do we need to revisit things and improve them for a better student experience? For anyone, the preference is the experience of smooth navigation when it comes to any sort of platform or technology. We don’t want to run into barriers and frustration.
This project has really brought up a lot of our challenges and pain points with PS – PeopleSoft, our current SIS – Student Information System. We’ve learned the pain points for this, and we have also looked into Workday to see if we can reduce or improve some of the pain points not just for the students, but for everyone who is involved in operational work and who feeds in data and uses the information system.
It’s been wonderful, although it’s been a challenge in terms of resources and time. Committing to our everyday work as well as to this big project, because it is big, and balancing all of it. At the end of the day, it’s been positive because I can see that it is truly something that will change the student experience as well as our work.
