Omnium Circus to perform at Gallaudet...
What do you do when your world premiere gets cancelled?
You call your friends.
And that is exactly what Lisa Lewis, founder and director of Omnium Circus, did — she reached out to Monique Holt, a faculty member in the Theatre and Dance program.
The two had been long-time friends and colleagues, and Holt was pleasantly surprised when Lewis called and asked for help.
And help Holt did. Working with Ethan Sinnott, director of the Theatre and Dance program, they secured Elstad Auditorium for the week, allowing Omnium Circus to rehearse and offer a free show on Sunday, November 14 at 4:00 p.m. ET.
This rehearsal space and show will allow Omnium Circus to capture footage to promote the circus, which boasts two deaf performers: Bailey Ann Vincent, a ballerina and artist, and Anna Gichen, an acrobat and dancer. The circus is known for employing people with a variety of disabilities.
Interested in attending? Seats are limited; RSVP to mateo@omniumcircus.org. Please note that you will be required to show your vaccine card, and masks are required, per both Gallaudet and Omnium Circus.
“[The show will be] awesome…this will be the first live-audience performance at Elstad [Auditorium] since [before the] pandemic,” Sinnott said.
