Kurdistan official visits Gallaudet
Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman, Kurdistan Regional Government representative to the United States, visited Gallaudet University on November 15. The visit was hosted by the Office of International Affairs (OIA), the International Development Master of Arts (IDMA) program, and the English Language Institute (ELI).
The purpose of the visit was for Representative Rahman to learn about bilingual education, DeafSpace, Deaf culture, and Gallaudet history, and to observe Deaf higher education in practice.
IDMA student Emma DeCaro, a diplomatic intern with the Kurdistan Regional Government, and ELI student Hawal Abdullah, who is from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, look forward to expanding Kurdish Deaf human rights as a result of this visit.
