In collaboration with the Turtle Island Hand Talk (TIHT) Healing Ceremony Committee, Gallaudet University is holding a healing and renaming ceremony on Thursday, October 17 to rename Building 103 to òkànkwèpihëna tëtpi (Circle of Signers) and to heal from the harmful impact caused by Senator Henry L. Dawes to Native Americans. The event is open to the public, and admission is free. Visit this webpage for the schedule and RSVP link.

The We, Native Deaf People, Are Still Here! exhibition is also opening on October 17. The exhibition will focus on decolonizing and indigenizing Chapel Hall. Indigenous Deaf people will tell their own stories, and explore what it means to reclaim and to heal through art, language, and history. Please visit this webpage for more information.
