The Advising process encompasses traditional advising services and features Academic progress reports, facilitates communication of academic progress across the institution with students and advisors. Advisors & Students can review program rules and requirements, course rules and requirements, academic progress reports, What-if scenarios, and more!

Manages financial aid requirements, ISIR processing, award packaging & disbursement, and needs assessments. “Financial Aid” is a key and complex part of the Student Systems with functions including performing federal verification, administering awarding, determining eligibility for disbursement, calculating need-based and merit-based aid eligibility, Satisfactory Academic Progress and holds, Title IV reporting and student loans.

Recruiting Involves targeted marketing and student relationship management to increase brand awareness and solicit quality applications & Admissions support prospects, applicants, evaluations, and decisions, plus advanced features, e.g., automated admit/deny, enrollment targets, etc. Gallaudet University will continue to use Slate as the Recruiting and Admissions tool and configure minimally to support Slate to Workday integrations.

Foundational components used throughout Workday Student, Supports the academic organizational structure for colleges and departments across the campus and configure the student Program of Study inventory used across all functional areas.
Student Core: Manages student information, including personal and contact information, disability accommodations, Supports the New Student/Continuing Onboarding process, hold management across functional areas, maintains student housing assignments and directory, Defines student personal information security model and self-service access.

Supports the finance office related to accounting, disbursement, collection, student charges, payments, and refunds. The key feature is student accounts, Bill generation, payment applications and collections, auto/manual holds to the student account, tuition and fee calculations, and tax-related information.

Regulates student registration, academic records, and institutional academic policies. Student Records” is the largest part of most Student Systems and includes Course Catalog & Schedule, Student Registration and Enrollment, Transfer Credit Articulation, Grading, Academic Statistics, Transcripts, Graduation o Curriculum Management: Enables course inventory management, class sections, and instructors. Gallaudet will continue to use Watermark as their inventory management and approval processing tool.

The Change Experience team ensures a seamless transition from Bison to Workday Student. We diligently monitor any potential changes that could affect individuals and identify any necessary training or communication requirements throughout the implementation process.

Reporting and Dashboards allow for pre-configured pages related to functional areas within Workday. They are pre-populated with tasks and reports, charts, and data that assist you with your day-to-day operations at Gallaudet University.

Responsible ensuring the system aligns with the organization’s goals. They collaborate cross functionally to understand business needs, support the design of system functionalities to create a robust, scalable, and maintainable solution. The system architect guides the team in selecting appropriate technologies, integrating modules, and addressing potential challenges. They also ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and security protocols, optimizing the system’s performance and facilitating smooth implementation and future enhancements.

The Technology team is responsible for integrations, data conversion, and security to the Workday Student modules.

The testing group is responsible for providing the necessary tools to ensure that the Workday Student application meets the configurable business needs and objectives. They also ensure that the system is compatible and performs to its full potential, meeting the specific needs of Gallaudet University.
