This 1-credit course helps incoming and transfer students attain the knowledge of professional skills, behaviors and career competencies necessary for a successful pre-professional internship experience and future career development.
Students will create effective resumes, practice networking and interview skills to market key accomplishments, conduct career research through online resources and people, and develop a plan leading to an internship experience. In addition, students will learn basics of how to work with an interpreter and/or request other accommodations to enhance communication in the work setting.
Students will receive a letter grade. Students are required to complete the Career Development course before taking their GSR 300 Capstone course.
Prerequisite or Co-requisite: GSR 150, or permission of Career Center director.
The course helps incoming and transfer students develop a resume, practice networking and interview skills, and develop a plan that will lead to an internship to explore their career interests. This workshop will be taught and conducted by the Career Center.
Upon successful completion, students will receive a passing (P) grade. Students are required to complete the Career Development before they can take the GSR 300 Capstone course.
