Program Statement

The Intercultural Alliances team recognizes that improved diversity awareness and cultural competency will help create a more equitable, welcoming environment for people of marginalized communities. Therefore, Intercultural Alliances provides support, collaborates and shares resources with Gallaudet, Clerc Center and the external Deaf communities to increase diversity awareness and multicultural competency.

Goals:

  1. To increase intercultural competence
  2. To develop the knowledge and skills needed to navigate a multicultural world
  3. To increase racial identity awareness, recognizing bias, and analyze the different forms of racism
  4. To cultivate participants who are passionate about addressing and closing equity gaps
  5. To engage in sustained and transformational courageous intergroup dialogues and campus-wide dialogues.
  6. To participate in national, local and community outreach activities that advance the cause of social justice
