In September 2008, Mr. Mel Carter transferred the intellectual property rights for the ASLPI to Gallaudet University. It is a tremendous honor bestowed upon Gallaudet University, one that comes with great responsibility. The number one goal is to provide quality services that are reliable and consistent. The logo above was developed and has been legally trademarked. Registration of the ASLPI logo was granted by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, with Certificate of Registration No. 4,103,513 was issued on Feb. 28, 2012.

With regard to the logo design, the four slanted lines above the “I” represent proficiency levels 0-4. The black slash through the four vertical lines represents Level 5, the highest ASLPI proficiency level.
