Mohamed Abdelaal, a sophomore, passed away on Monday, December 4 in New Jersey. Mohamed’s family said that he died unexpectedly after a brief illness. 
 
According to Travis Imel, ’00 & G-’02, Dean of Student Affairs, the university is “in close contact with Mohamed’s family, including Mohamed’s sister, Wafaa, a graduate student.” Imel continued, “During these difficult times, our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and all those who knew him. Losing a member of our university community is a painful experience and we extend our heartfelt sympathies to everyone affected by his unexpected passing.”  

Support, including a grief support group hosted by Counseling and Psychological Services, was made available to students and university staff and faculty.
