Letter from Dr. Roberta “Bobbi” Cordano,...
Dear Campus Community:
Gallaudet University is dedicated to ensuring a thriving living, learning and working environment that is free from sexual assault and sexual discrimination.
We are committed to ensuring a safe university community for all of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Unlawful discrimination and harassment violates University policy, Federal, and District of Columbia law and undermines the integrity of our academic community.
I would like to take this opportunity to strongly emphasize that Gallaudet University does not tolerate any form of harassment.
In conjunction with our Title IX Coordinator, Jennie Sivak, we are providing this interactive online training program to help reinforce Gallaudet’s long-standing commitment to a safe and secure campus for everyone in our community. This online training enables the campus community to conveniently receive training in a manner that does not disrupt work or school responsibilities.
All Gallaudet University employees are considered mandatory reporters and must promptly contact the Title IX Coordinator when the employee becomes aware of an alleged act of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and other forms of gender-based discrimination when perpetrated against a faculty, staff, student or visitor of the University.
However, employees with a privilege of confidentiality (including health care providers, counselors, etc., and their associated staff) are not considered mandatory reporters and are not required to report when the information is learned in the course of a confidential communication.
Your participation in this training, designed to assist us in recognizing, responding to, and preventing sexual misconduct and sexual harassment is a vital step in ensuring each one of us is prepared for our individual roles in making Gallaudet a safe community for all.
We hope that you will find the training informative and useful. We look forward to our continued work together in our ongoing Title IX education and compliance efforts.
Best,Roberta “Bobbi” CordanoPresident
