Global Engagement
Gallaudet’s Global Engagement advances learning, research, and service opportunities to meet the challenges facing deaf and hard of hearing people and the planet. Via global learning, Gallaudet gains understanding and trust with people in other societies, and thus becomes prepared to ethically engage in actions leading towards social justice–on campus, in Washington, D.C., and around the world.
Brings international professors, researchers, and experts to Gallaudet for mutual learning and projects.
Explores opportunities of strategic benefit to advance Gallaudet’s mission of student recruiting, academic exchanges, and institutional partnerships.
Trains key community-level and professional roles in disability-inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction and emergency planning through a service project (and graduate certificate) of the International Development Masters Program.
Offers opportunities for faculty and staff members in all disciplines to advance their research and teaching interests, and share their expertise abroad.
Available in several areas, including sports, advocacy, and more, pursued by our faculty, staff, and students.
Gallaudet collaborates with institutions that incorporate its values and harness the power of transnational learning and exchange for mutual benefits. The University strives to include local representative Deaf organizations as full collaborators in all projects. The most active agreements are underway in the following venues:
Gallaudet is adding agreements to foster global learning through study abroad and on campus programs: Virtual Exchange-Collaborative Online International Learning (VE-COIL) links the classrooms of two higher education institutions in different countries to foster equitable student-centered cooperative cross-cultural learning.
