About

Credentials: PhD

I joined the faculty in the department of education in 2008. Originally from Buffalo, NY, I started my educational career working as a coordinator for a respite program at a non-profit organization serving adults with disabilities. Upon moving to the DC area to attend Gallaudet University, I worked at another non-profit as a job coach and community specialist for adults with disabilities.

I started my teaching career as a special education teacher in a middle school program teaching math and science and later transferred to the county's deaf education program and taught English and reading. While working on my doctorate, I became the first ever policy evaluation specialist for my district, a role that I truly enjoyed and learned much doing.  However, I realized that deep down, I am a teacher, and I need to be in a classroom.  Thus, I returned to Gallaudet, this time as a faculty member.

In my spare time, I enjoy catching up on TV (especially Doctor Who), reading, sewing, training for multisport competitions, and hanging with my dogs.
