Amy Stevens incorporates visual and verbal communication in a broad range of courses including women’s body image in advertising, civil rights struggles in images and text, and introduction to mass communication. Drawing upon her degrees in journalism and art, Professor Stevens teaches students how to compose and design books, websites, infographics, posters and three-dimensional exhibits, titled “Social Justice Sneakers: A Walk in Someone Else’s Shoes,” and “Tears, Trials and Triumph: The African American Story.” Professor Stevens has an M.A. in communication from Wichita State University and an M.F.A in graphic design from Howard University.
