Academics

Dear Students:

Gallaudet University is reducing its fall semester tuition by 15 percent for all full-time and part-time students. This applies to both U.S. and international students. It also includes students in the English Language Institute. We are doing this because while we are confident that you will receive an excellent education virtually, we recognize the loss of the on-campus experience. We also recognize that some students and their families may have had changes in their financial circumstances.

This 15 percent reduction applies to fall semester tuition only. We will not charge the Health Services fee. A decision on room and board will be made once we know whether students will be able to return to campus during the fall semester. In any event, room and board fees will be prorated as they were last spring.

The Office of Financial Aid looks forward to working with you to determine how they can help you meet your direct costs. If your or your family’s circumstances have changed since you filed your FAFSA, let Financial Aid know, so they can consider this new information. Please visit their website at Contact.

Additionally, the first round of CARES Act student emergency relief funds will be released by mid-June. All students who met certain criteria will receive a $750 payment. These students have been notified via email. Some other students may also be eligible; an application is available on the Gallaudet website and the dedicated coronavirus website.

Enjoy your summer, and we look forward to “seeing” you this fall.

Sincerely,

Lisa Clarke

Interim Chief Financial Officer
