Founded by Jane Norman, Ph.D., The National Deaf Life Museum at Gallaudet University is the spot in D.C. to sneak a peek into the history and heritage of the evolving deaf community. The museum serves as a resource for the deaf and hearing alike to understand and enjoy deaf life and art while students have the opportunity to pitch and create an exhibit for display in the museum.
Established in 2020, The Center for Black Deaf Studies (CBDS) (CBDS) is Gallaudet’s first step in developing multicultural deaf studies centers. The CBDS is complete with a computer lab, digital library, smart classroom, and professional staff available to support and collaborate with students in their work.
Gain unparalleled professional experience right on campus as you create an exhibit for the Gallaudet Museum, develop the Gallaudet Almanac, host an annual deaf alumni panel, or collaborate with faculty on research. Students can also enjoy a variety of internships to position them for career success through a strong network of connections, and real-world experience.
