Overview

These highly flexible courses are offered on-campus, online, or both. Courses are open to adults with a high school diploma or its equivalent, undergraduate and graduate students, and visiting students from other colleges.

For learners seeking non-degree credit, GOAL offers a variety of Professional Studies and Training (PST), Professional Studies Undergraduate (PSU), and Professional Studies Graduate (PSG) courses for non-degree credit. Please note that non-degree credits are not transferable to degree programs at Gallaudet. Other colleges and universities may accept non-degree credits depending on their transfer credit policies. All PST, PSU, and PSG courses are RID-eligible, at a rate of 1.5 CEUs per credit.

  • PST-prefixed courses are designated as individual courses and generally do not lead to a professional studies certificate. These courses may only be offered through GOAL or cross-listed with undergraduate courses.
  • PSU-prefixed courses are undergraduate-level courses and may be cross-listed with undergraduate courses/programs. They also may be a part of an undergraduate-level professional studies certificate program.
  • PSG-prefixed courses are graduate-level courses and may be cross-listed with graduate courses/programs. They also may be part of a graduate-level professional studies certificate program.

Course subjects include but are not limited to: ASL Research and Education, Deaf Studies, Linguistics, Interpreting, and Deaf Education.
