Overview

We have conducted a study of whether children improve their vocabulary through interaction with VL2 storybook apps to understand how the target audience of emerging readers (children ages 4 to 8) gains awareness of new vocabulary words.

This project will bring new perspectives on early intervention approaches to the United States. Information collected from this study will help us determine design approaches in future app editions and types of activities.

Resources will be shared with parents, professionals, early intervention services and resource providers, and advocacy organizations. Seven schools and 100 students have participated in this study. Data collections have been completed, and data analyses and write-up are ongoing.
