Communication is our most valued resources, essential to all successful academic and life endeavors. We want to ensure that all Gallaudet students and employees have equitable access to the vast array of communication and digital resources you need. New students and employees will receive a Technology Kit with an Apple laptop and accessories. The contents may vary depending on an employee’s job roles and responsibilities. The Technology Kit is for your use while a University student or employed at the University/Clerc Center. Use your devices to tap into the variety of resources and services provided.
New students, you get your device when you arrive on campus. If you arrive early for summer sports, JumpStart, or other programs, you will get it then. Otherwise, you will receive it during New Student Orientation. Note: we will ship devices to remote-only students.
New employees, you will receive communication from Technology Services and/or your supervisor. Note: we will ship devices to remote-only employees.
New students and employees, you will receive an email about activating your Gallaudet account. Your username is your email address. This is typically your firstname.lastname @ Gallaudet.edu. You will be given a link to activate your account, create a password, and set up multifactor authentication (MFA).
Employees and students are encouraged to use EDUROAM. This secure WiFi connection requires you to log in using your Gallaudet credentials (your username and password).
This is your number one place to start. When you log into the Okta portal, it will verify who you are. You can set up facial recognition or a number to send a code. Once you are verified, you will be able to access other services without having to log in again and again. We are still in the process of adding more services to Okta.
You can use this portal to access the other key system listed here.
Employees use WorkDay to manage their business needs. They can request time off, apply for jobs, manage benefits, and more.
Students use WorkDay to manage their student business needs. They can manage student accounts, pay bills, pick classes, and much more.
MyGU is the communication hub. Announcements and other information are shared here. This information may be shared via text and email as well.
Submit service requests for technology services, facilities, housekeeping, human resources, and finance office support. More services will be added.
Blackboard Ultra is our learning management system (LMS). Faculty and students use Ultra to conduct and communicate course requirements, submit coursework, document attendance, manage the course grade book, and conduct online discussions.
Gallaudet uses two systems, Alertus and Connect, for emergency announcements. All emergency alerts are sent to your Gallaudet email. They are also displayed on your Gallaudet-issued device. Set up your profile and other methods of getting these important messages.
