The Office of the Provost and the Academic Affairs deans hosted the second Gallaudet University Research Expo, organized by the Office of Research Support and International Affairs (RSIA), on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Elstad Auditorium and the University Field House. Senda Benaissa of RSIA served as principal organizer.

The theme of the 2017 Research Expo was Collaborative Research between Faculty and Students.

The expo continued in the tradition of the kick-off event in 2016 by recognizing accomplishments in research by Gallaudet undergraduate and graduate students, and faculty and staff members, as well as promoting dialogue about and recognition of the indispensable roles research and scholarship play at the University and in the deaf community.

Following opening remarks by President Roberta J. Cordano and Provost Carol Erting, two panel discussions were held: “Mentoring to develop the next generation of empirical researchers” and “Multiple perspectives on collaboration to expand the pool of knowledge.” Twelve student presentations, each four minutes in length, covered research topics representing academic disciplines throughout Gallaudet.

Afternoon programming included poster sessions and discussions focusing on research grant funding.
