Terms of Agreement

By purchasing a Gallaudet University parking permit, users agree to comply with the policies and procedures outlined in this Gallaudet University Parking Agreement. Gallaudet University is not responsible for theft or damage to vehicles or the contents of the vehicle. Parking on University property is at the parker/owner’s own risk.

Parker Responsibilities

Parkers are responsible for:

  • Purchasing and maintaining a valid Gallaudet University parking permit.
  • Keeping their driver’s license and vehicle registration current.
  • Registering new vehicle information in iParq.
  • Assigning the correct vehicle to their permit.
  • Parking only in legal, designated spaces.
  • Adhering to all University parking and traffic regulations.

Fees and Payment Terms

  • Cash payments must be made in person at the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
  • The Department of Public Safety accepts credit and debit cards.
  • Once purchased, parking permits are non-refundable.
  • Payroll deduction and student account billing are available for those who qualify.
  • Employees using payroll deduction are solely responsible for cancelling their permit when no longer needed by contacting Parking and ID Services at Click to reveal email.
  • An annual Parker Membership fee of $1.00 will be charged to all online users.

Parking Rules and Regulations

  • Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis. A permit authorizes parking on campus but does not guarantee a specific parking space or location.
  • Failure to comply with the parking policy may result in tickets, immobilization, towing, or loss of parking privileges.
  • Vehicles parked on campus for more than two weeks should be reported to Parking and ID Services.
  • Parking on curbs, grass, or white-striped areas is prohibited.
  • Parking at Gallaudet University is a privilege, not a right.
  • Boats, trailers, or other non-moving vehicles may not be parked on campus.
  • Sleeping in vehicles, including RVs, is prohibited.
  • No parking or standing in fire lanes.
  • Vehicles may stop at unmarked curbs only for active loading/unloading.
  • All accidents involving university property or vehicles must be reported to DPS at Click to reveal email or 202-651-5555 (Text or Voice).
  • Accessible spaces may be marked with signs or painted symbols; both are valid.
  • Only state-issued placards/plates authorize parking in accessible spaces.
  • Former students/employees must create a visitor account in iParq for future access.
  • No vehicle may block fire escapes, be more than 12″ from a curb, or park within:
    • 10 feet of a fire hydrant
    • 25 feet of any STOP sign
  • No vehicle may block entrances, barricades, trash/recycling receptacles, or parked vehicles.

Parking Zones

  • Zones are assigned based on permit type (student, employee, visitor). Vehicles must park in their assigned zone.
  • Visitor parking is located at the 6th Street Garage.
  • Parking outside the assigned zone may result in a ticket.
  • Zone maps are available on the Gallaudet University website.

Abandoned and Inoperable Vehicles

  • Report inoperable or unregistered vehicles to Click to reveal email immediately.
  • Hazard lights or notes left on vehicles do not count as notification.
  • Inoperable vehicles must be repaired or removed within the timeframe set by DPS.
  • Only minor repairs may be performed on campus; all other maintenance is prohibited.
  • Abandoned vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense; DPS will attempt to notify owners first.

  • Appeals will not be considered if the parker has prior tickets for the same offense.
  • Repeat violations may incur daily tickets.
  • Graduating students must pay ticket fines before graduation.
  • Ticket information, payments, and appeals are managed through your iParq account.
  • Appeals must be submitted within 30 days of the ticket date.
  • Appeals will not be accepted for:
    • Lost tickets
    • Short-term illegal parking
    • Ignorance of parking policy
    • Lack of preferred space
    • Unread or misunderstood signage
