Kati Mitchell became part of the sign language community after first learning ASL in high school. She was one of the first graduates in Deaf Studies from Utah Valley University.
Kati then earned her Master’s degree in Deaf History from Gallaudet University. She has since worked for over eleven years advocating for Gallaudet, where her primary focus is leading government relations and other key external collaborations. Her expertise in navigating the complexity of the federal funding process has helped transform the relationship between the University and national leaders and bring new funding for strategic initiatives on campus.
Kati also develops strategic messaging and communications that share Gallaudet’s mission with key stakeholders and new audiences, leading to deeper relationships and additional opportunities for the Gallaudet community.
Kati lives in Maryland with her husband and son, and enjoys exploring the capital region.
