Gallaudet University follows the District of Columbia Immunization Law 38-502 and requires immunizations on all students under 26 years of age.

 

Proof of Immunity/Titers is required if you do not have any vaccine records.

Tetanus Diphtheria (Td) or Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap) One given in the past 10 years No
Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) Two vaccinations are given: after age 1, and another a minimum of 30 days apart Yes
Varicella (Chicken Pox) Two vaccinations are given: after age 1, and another a minimum of 30 days apart Yes
Hepatitis B Three vaccinations, as per the CDC schedule Yes
Meningococcal Vaccine (ACWY135)* Given on or after your 16th birthday No
Polio (required for ages 17 and younger) Four vaccines given, as per the CDC schedule No

*DC regulation provides an exemption for students signing a waiver that reviews the dangers of meningococcal disease and indicates the vaccination has been declined. The meningococcal information and waiver are available. 

Reccomended Vaccines:

  • Flu (influenza) 
  • COVID-19 Vaccine
  • Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)
  • Hepatitis A

Students that are 26 years of age and older are not required to submit proof of immunization status. However, they are required to submit the SHS Health Form to Student Health Services.
