Through the Federal Work Study Program, students join a large team of employees who work to serve the needs of the campus community. A student not only earns financial aid funds through part-time employment to pay school expenses but also develops skills through practical work experience and good work habits. Hiring Procedures

Students are instructed not to begin working before the official starting date of the FWS Program, which will be announced through the Gallaudet Digest e-newsletter.
  • All students who receive a financial-aid award notification that includes Federal Work-Study Program will receive an e-mail from the Financial Aid Office after the add/drop period has ended
    • E-mail instructions will show where to find the hyperlink for the required FWS forms (e.g., FWS Job Referral and FWS Contract)
    • Email instructions will have links to the required federal tax and state forms.
  • Each FWS student must complete a Career Center Job Application.
  • If hired, the hiring supervisor must complete the Referral Form, which includes the hourly rate and term of employment, and attach a job description. The FWS contract must be signed by the student and supervisor.
  • Return to the Financial Aid Office with your packet BEFORE you begin working.
  • Each student will be able to clock in and out through E-time after their names have been submitted to the Payroll Office.
  • Students who worked the previous academic year should check with the Payroll Office, located in College Hall Room 320, to make sure their names are activated in the E-time system.
