GU COVID Quarantine Requirements

The quarantine rules apply to travelers who arrive in Washington, D.C. from abroad or from any of the 50 states other than Maryland and Virginia, as well as to individuals who have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Quarantine is not required for fully vaccinated individuals, within the parameters explained below.

If you were fully vaccinated* prior to arrival or suspected exposure, no quarantine is required. You must self monitor for symptoms for the 14 days after arrival or suspected exposure.

If you were not vaccinated, or incompletely vaccinated prior to arrival to the DC/MD/VA area or suspected exposure, quarantine is required for 10 days. You will also need to receive a negative PCR COVID-19 test administered on day 5 or later during the quarantine.

* A person is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after completion of a COVID-19 vaccination series (after the second dose of a 2-dose series or after one dose of a single-dose vaccine).
