To help you become more familiar with the assessment process, here is some important information.

  • The first step in getting assessment services is to complete the client information form and other paperwork. You will NOT be added to our wait list until we obtain the completed paperwork.
  • Then a staff member will contact you to schedule a screening appointment. The screening appointment will take approximately 50 minutes. During the screening appointment, you will discuss the following:
    • your interest in getting an assessment
    • the issues you are experiencing
    • background information
    • discuss how you will pay for the assessment (VR or self-pay). If you choose VR, bring the contact information to the appointment so that CAPS can contact your VR counselor to get approval for payment.
  • You will be assigned to an assessment clinician after the payment is received and when there is an opening. This person will contact you to set up your first assessment appointment. The assessment will require between 10-12 hours of testing (about 3-4 appointments).
  • After the assessment is completed, the clinician will develop a report which may require up to three weeks to complete. When the report is complete, you will be contacted by the clinician to schedule a feedback session.
