How to Become a CADE Instructor

The program offers CADE Instructors access to Gallaudet University’s college courses, opportunities to work alongside college faculty who are experts in their field, and enjoy professional development workshops that are thought-provoking and empowering.

  1. Does your school have high school students interested in taking a course you’re eligible to teach?

    Discuss with your administrative team to determine your availability to teach a dual credit course.

  2. Summer Instructor Training

    To prepare for teaching in the CADE program, all teachers will be required to participate in the Summer Instructor Training (SIT) at Gallaudet University. This in-person training will include the development of course materials and syllabi that aligns with your high school schedules, professional development workshops, networking opportunities, and the opportunity to explore Washington D.C. and Gallaudet University.

    The following will be provided for those attending:

    • Flight to/from Washington, D.C.
    • Lodging during your stay
    • Meals during your stay
    • Instructor textbook(s) and access to materials
  3. Apply to become a CADE Instructor

    • 2024-2025 Academic Year – applications are open.

Approved

  1. Email Notification

    You, your administrative team, and your CADE facilitator will be notified.

  2. SIT Registration

    You will be sent a link to register for the Summer Instructor Training. Be sure you are available for the training dates!

  3. Promote CADE at your school!

    Encourage your eligible high school students to join your dual credit course!

    Tell families about this opportunity!

  4. Prepare for your trip to DC!

    You will need to bring a laptop, a laptop charger, and walking shoes.

Not Approved

  1. Email Notification

    You will be notified and the CADE manager will look into pathway options to help you become approved.

  2. Establish meeting

    The CADE manager will reach out and schedule a meeting with you to discuss pathway options.

  3. Try again!

    Once you’ve completed a pathway, we’d love to have you apply again and submit proof of eligibility requirements that you gained.
