Resume Tips: Learn More
Internships
Explore internship opportunities related to your major. Internships help prepare you for employment after graduation. We do work with faculty to identify a potential internship opportunity for you. We encourage you to have more than one internship. Internship requirements vary by the academic program.
Benefits of Having an Internship:
Mock Interviews
Prepare for job interviews with our mock interview sessions. Receive authentic feedback from participating employers. This hands-on practice boosts your confidence for future (and actual) interviews. Our employers enjoy this opportunity because they get to know our students. This is an excellent opportunity to work with your self-advocacy and understand your accommodation needs.
Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP)
Graduating students and recent graduates can take advantage of special job opportunities through the Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP), managed by the US Department of Labor. Learn about the application process and timelines here. Also, read about one of our recent success stories involving a Gallaudet student here.

Stipends: Financial Support for Internships
Students can apply for career stipends to help cover expenses during their internship, such as living costs, transportation, or other related expenses. Stipends are special funds that are provided by generous benefactors outside Gallaudet University. The link is visible for those with an active Gallaudet University account. Priority goes to undergraduate students in good academic standing and those who are participating in off-campus internships.

Here are examples of questions you can ask the interviewer during the interview:
You can find more interview resources and questions to ask at Interview Central and by participating in mock interviews to help you prepare.
An internship or job interview is a two-way street. The job of the interviewer is to determine whether or not you have the skills and attitude that make you the best fit for the position.
You also have to determine whether the company and the position is a good fit for you. The best way to do this is by asking the interviewer questions during the interview.
Usually, the interviewer will ask, “Do you have any questions for me?” Your response should always be, “yes.” Saying no or having no questions prepared tells the employer that you might not be motivated to work or that you do not put in effort to be prepared, which can reflect on the effort you put put into the job.
Employers make judgments about you based on the questions you ask. Make sure that you ask good questions.
ALL matriculated students (full-time, part-time, online, graduate and undergraduate) have assigned Academic and Career Advisors. This information should be viewable in your profile on Workday. If you cannot find this information, please contact Career Success.
We strongly encourage all students to start acquiring work experiences during their first year of college. Internships are available as early as the 2nd semester of the freshman year. Internships can be done during any semester of the year (fall, spring, summer). Students should always check directly with their faculty advisor and career educator, as there are specific timelines for various internship sites.
