Welcome to the Office for Career Success at Gallaudet University!
As faculty and staff, you hold a crucial role in helping students fully realize their knowledge and skills in and outside the classroom. According to a survey by the National Association for Colleges and Employers (NACE), supported by the American Association for Colleges and Universities and the National Society for Experiential Education, 92 percent of faculty have been asked for career advice from students within the past year.
This underscores the importance of the faculty’s role in student’s career preparation. Faculty and staff can bridge the gap between academia and the workforce by integrating career readiness into their courses and helping students articulate their skills and experiences in real-world contexts. Four in ten faculty members regularly advise students on career exploration, and over half of students seek advice on career opportunities within their major, graduate school decisions, or internship opportunities.
Faculty and staff, through their ongoing connections, can help students and alumni share their career updates and successes using our brief survey for new and long-time alumni. Share Your Updates here.
Our newly published Career Milestones serve as a holistic career education framework for all undergraduate students at Gallaudet University. These milestones provide shared language among faculty, students, staff, administrators, alumni, and employers. To support the curation of these milestones, please consider inviting the Office for Career Success to visit your class or program. Our interactive presentations can be customized for a particular major, industry, or student organization. We can also bring alumni professionals or employers who serve as subject matter experts for your chosen class or workshop topic.
Handshake is our online portal for job and internship opportunities. Faculty and staff can use Handshake to support students in their search for internships and job opportunities and find relevant career events.
