The Gallaudet University Alumni Association (GUAA) held a virtual Charter Day program on Saturday, April 9. They marked Gallaudet’s 158th birthday, then announced the winners of the GUAA awards for 2022, as follows:

  • Outstanding Young Alumnus Award: Victorica Monroe, ’15 & G-’20
  • Advocacy for Social Justice Award (originally named the Gertrude S. Galloway, ’51, PhD ’93, & H-’02 Advocacy and Social Justice Award): Dr. Poorna Kushalnagar, ’93
  • Above and Beyond Volunteer Award (originally named the Pauline “Polly” Peikoff, E-’36 “Service to Others” Award): Dr. Barbara J. White, ’76

Members of the GUAA Clerc Cultural Fund also took part in the program, describing their new suite of awards beginning in 2023.
