Art Signs event at the Smithsonian American Art Museum  

The Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) and the Motion Light Lab (ML2) collaborated for a special edition of Art Signs on November 30, 2023. Deaf individuals from Gallaudet University led informative tours in American Sign Language detailing exhibits from Musical Thinking: New Video Art and Sonic Strategies. After the hour-long tour, museum visitors continued the dialogue with appetizers and drinks.  
 
Musical Thinking: New Video Art and Sonic Strategies opened in June 2023 and will conclude its run on Sunday, January 28, 2024. According to the SAAM website, the exhibition celebrates major new acquisitions to SAAM’s media art collection. It pairs recently added video works by ADÁL, Raven Chacon, Mariam Ghani, Martine Gutierrez, Arthur Jafa, Erin Ellen Kelly, Christine Sun Kim, Liz Magic Laser, Simone Leigh, and Cauleen Smith with related photographs, sculptures, prints and immersive installations by the same creators.
