Tracey Salaway, Professor of Art teaches various Art & Media Design courses at Gallaudet University, Washington, DC since 1997. She teaches mural art, video experimental art, and identity & culture in animation. She has exhibited Deaf Art paintings in DC metro galleries as well as Dyer Arts Gallery in Rochester, NY. She has produced many experimental shorts for Deaf film festivals. She is currently a lecturer at Smithsonian American Art Museum for the American Sign Language Art Signs tour in Washington, DC. She has curated several Deaf Art exhibitions that are open to all Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing artists, utilizing their interpretations of the artistic cultural concept. She provided presentations on Deaf Arts, including historical and cultural topics that pushes and symbolizes a political artistic belief group called Deaf Art Movement (DAM) and Deaf View/Image Art (De’VIA) as well. She produced a featured documentary film called An American Deaf Artist: Chuck Baird and His Journey that was nominated for the Best Documentary Film at WORLDEAF Cinema Festival in 2010 at Gallaudet University.
