  • A native of Peru and was born to a Deaf family (came to the US at the age of 17 years.)
  • Outstanding Young Alumnus Award from the Gallaudet University Alumni Association. (2004)
  • Dissertation entitled: An Examination of Literacy Experiences of First-Generation Deaf Latino College Students.
  • Variety of developmental non-credit and credit courses in the English Department.
  • Interdisciplinary courses, including "Deaf Latine Identities, Topics, and Issues"
  • One of the founders and served two terms as the President of the Latino Deaf and Hard of Hearing Association of Metropolitan DC Area
  • Served on the Board of Trustees for the National Council of Hispano Deaf and Hard of Hearing (now known as Council of Manos)
  • Head Coach of the Gallaudet Women's Soccer (2003-2005) & Assist. Coach of the Gallaudet Men's Soccer (2011-2012)
