I specialize in communications, organizational development, and strategic planning. My career at Gallaudet began in 1989 as a scheduler for Gallaudet Interpreting Services. I left the University briefly to work as a freelance sign language interpreter before returning to Gallaudet to the Office of Public Relations. I was a public relations specialist writing and pitching stories to local news outlets. I ran the University's Visitors Center, supervising student tour guides, developing tour materials, and organizing large and small group visits including State Department-sponsored visits with international dignataries.

I was instrumental in establishing the University's early web presence and created and curated most of the original text and other content. Implementing the first versions of our content management systems required working closely with technology services. My eventual move to Gallaudet Technology Services married my love of writing with my fascination with technology. 

I am a second-generation CODA (Child of Deaf Adults). My mother is deaf and a former Gallaudet student. My father is a coda; his parents, including three aunts and several cousins, are deaf. I have been a member of the International CODA organization since 1987 and serve as the staff advisor to the CODAdet student group on campus.
