International Affairs staff members accepted to...
Office of International Affairs employees B. Mutisya Nzyuko, ’17, and Jarvis B. Grindstaff, ’14 & G-’19, have been accepted as trainees in the 2022 Class of NAFSA’s Academy for International Education. They will participate in a year-long intensive training program with extensive networking opportunities.
Nzyuko is Coordinator of Immigration Compliance and International Procedures with OIR. He previously worked in the Office of University Communications and in the ASLPI. He majored in finance and marketing, graduated summa cum laude with University Honors in 2017, and is pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree.
Grindstaff, an International Student Success Specialist, received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and master’s degrees in international development and public administration, all from Gallaudet. During his IDMA studies, he had internship experiences with the United Nations, Danish Association of the Deaf, and the Hanoi Association of the Deaf. As a Fulbright Scholar, Jarvis traveled to Bangkok, Thailand in 2019 to conduct a research project entitled “Social Inclusion and Technology Innovation: Examining the Impact of Communication Technologies for Deaf People’s Social Integration in Thailand.”
NAFSA: Association of International Educators, is “the world’s largest and most diverse nonprofit association dedicated to international education and exchange, working to advance policies and practices that ensure a more interconnected, peaceful world today and for generations to come.” Entry into the NAFSA Academy is quite competitive, as the academy receives many qualified applicants. Trainees are expected to be prepared to challenge themselves, support their fellow trainees, and contribute wholeheartedly to the program. The Academy provides a unique opportunity to develop trainees’ personal and professional capacities in the field of international education.
Congratulations, B. Mutisya and Jarvis!
