Evon J. Black, ’87 & G-’96, Associate Director of Gallaudet University’s Center for Black Deaf Studies, gave a presentation entitled, “Unveiling Untold Black Deaf Stories,” at the NAD 57th Biennial Conference in Chicago on July 4.

Her presentation elevated awareness of Mrs. Louise B. Miller, an overlooked hero of educational and racial justice in America. This largely untold story is of the power of a mother’s love and how Mrs. Miller’s courage and determination profoundly impacted generations of Black Deaf people and helped to reshape our nation’s educational landscape.

Evon presented to a full room and attendees were engaged with the content and asked thoughtful questions afterward. Congratulations, Evon!
