At Gallaudet University, we are proud to offer a comprehensive insurance program designed to provide peace of mind for you and your family. Although we are not a federal agency, we are able participate in the federal benefits program offered by the Office of Personnel Management. The insurance plans include extensive health coverage, dental and vision benefits, life insurance, and long-term disability insurance. The Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHB) is offered to all regular status employees and eligible temporary employees. If you are a temporary employee, please reach out to Human Resources if you need to confirm eligibility. Gallaudet University contributes about 72% to 75% of the total premium. Dental insurance is offered through the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP) Regular status employees and eligible temporary employees may enroll into FEDVIP. If you are a temporary employee, please reach out to Human Resources if you need to confirm eligibility. Employees are responsible for the full cost of the total premium. Vision insurance is offered through the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP) Regular status employees and eligible temporary employees may enroll into FEDVIP. If you are a temporary employee, please reach out to Human Resources if you need to confirm eligibility. Employees are responsible for the full cost of the total premium. Life insurance is offered through the Federal Employees Group Life Insurance program (FEGLI). Only regular status employees may enroll into FEGLI. Gallaudet will pay one-third of the total premium for the basic life insurance. More information can be found below:
Long-term disability insurance (LTD) is offered through Standard Insurance. Only regular status employees may enroll into LTD. Gallaudet will pay 50% of the total premium. More information can be found below:
Long term care insurance is offered through the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP). Regular status employees and eligible temporary employees and their qualified relatives may enroll into FLTCIP. If you are a temporary employee, please reach out to Human Resources if you need to confirm eligibility. Employees are responsible for the full cost of the premium.
