Roving Reporter – June 2011
This month, the Roving Reporter asked: What is your favorite place for an outdoor picnic?
I have always been fascinated with cherry blossoms and Japanese culture. My picnic spot would be next to the Tidal Basin [by the Jefferson Memorial] when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. For the picnic, I would bring sushi, plum wine, and an inari made from sweet rice stuffed in a fried tofu pocket.–Cynthia Hunt, school counselor, Kendall Demonstration Elementary School
Potomac Park, because it is nice to enjoy the view and see what’s going on around you.
Brooke Wilcoxson, undergraduate student
I recommend the National Arboretum, where you can also go walking or biking and there are trees and flowers all around. The National Mall is another great place for a picnic.
Rock Lemery, merchandise specialist, Bison Shop
In my country of Malaysia, I recommend eating at the Kuala Lampur Centennial Center. There are many good and inexpensive places to eat there. In the U.S., I love to sit outside at restaurants in Manhattan.
