Thank you for visiting the Student Health Insurance Plan website. Please read below for detailed information and FAQ’s relating to health insurance.

If you are:

  • A full time student living on or off campus
  • A part time student living on campus

You are required to have health insurance!

You must either enroll in OR waive the student health insurance plan.

The deadline to waive or enroll for the Fall 2025 semester is September 5th, 2025.

ONLINE ENROLLMENT/WAIVER PROCESS

To complete the Online Health Insurance Decision form:

  1. Go to https://go.gallagherstudent.com/Universities/Gallaudet%20University/Home
  2. Click on “Account Home” on the left column under My Account; you will be redirected for authentication.
  3. Use your Gallaudet email and password to log in.
  4. Click on ‘Purchase Health Insurance/Waive Health Insurance’.
  5. Click the ‘I want to Purchase or I want to Waive’ button. If you want to waive, please have your health insurance card available, as you’ll need the information to complete the waiver information section.
  6. Follow the instructions to complete the form.
  7. Print or write down your reference number. Receipt of this number confirms acceptance of your form.

*If a waiver form is not submitted by the deadline, you will remain enrolled and billed for the Student Health Insurance Plan for the semester.

FAQs

For Medicaid:

Your Medicaid coverage is only eligible for the same state that it was activated in. The only Medicaid waivers we accept are from DC/MD/VA. 

 

For Medicare:

Medicare is accepted. You will need to submit proof of coverage for both Plan A and Plan B. You can use your benefit letter from your Social Security Administration office to submit as proof. Please make sure the coverage dates state the current year. You can find your benefit letter here.

You need to be covered under one of the following health insurance plans to qualify for a waiver:
  • Medicaid
  • Medicare Parts A & B
  • A comprehensive health insurance plan comparable to Gallaudet’s plan

Yes, Kaiser Permanente is accepted regardless of the state. Please follow the instructions to submit your waiver. 

The premium (cost) is automatically applied to your student account. Once we accept your waiver, the charge will be removed.
