Membership Fee: $20.00 yearly

If you live near Gallaudet University, you’re invited to become a member of the Gallaudet Connection Program.

Eligibility

  • Must reside in the area near Gallaudet University.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.

Benefits of Membership

Members enjoy access to the following campus facilities and amenities:

  • Thomas O. Berg Track for walking or running, Monday–Friday, 6 a.m.–3 p.m.
  • Main campus streets for walking and biking, 6 a.m.–9 p.m.
    • Note: Streets surrounding the Clerc Center—including the Model Secondary School for the Deaf and Kendall Demonstration Elementary School—are restricted and not included in the Gallaudet Connection Program. See the attached map for approved walking and biking areas.
  • Gallaudet University Disc Golf Course
  • On-campus dining at the following locations:
    • Marketplace Café and Java Corner (Student Academic Center)
    • Kellogg Bistro (Kellogg Conference Hotel)
  • Shopping at the Bison Shop (Student Academic Center, 1st Floor)
    • Open to the public Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • PNC ATM (Student Academic Center, 1st Floor)
  • Gallaudet Shuttle Bus from campus to Union Station
    • Note: MSSD and KDES bus stops are not available for Gallaudet Connection members. Visit the Transportation webpage for times and locations.
  • Campus Post Office (Student Academic Center, Ground Level)
  • FedEx Drop Box (outside the Kellogg Conference Hotel)
  • Maguire Welcome Center (Edward Miner Gallaudet Building)
  • Gallaudet University Museum (Chapel Hall)

Gate and Vehicle Access

  • Pedestrian Gate Access: Main Entrance (8th St. & Florida Ave), West Virginia Ave, and 6th St. — 7 days a week, 6 a.m.–9 p.m.
  • Vehicle Access:
    • Main Entrance (8th St. & Florida Ave): 7 days a week, 6 a.m.–9 p.m.
    • 6th St.: Monday–Friday, 6 a.m.–6 p.m. with Gallaudet Connection ID card.

Additional Benefits

  • 5% Discount on Gallaudet University space rentals
    • Not applicable at the Kellogg Conference Hotel or Peikoff Alumni House.

Campus Conduct and Access

  • Members must show respect toward Gallaudet University staff, students, and property.
    • If asked to leave the Berg Track or other areas by Athletics or DPS staff, members are expected to comply with this request.
  • Rental bikes and scooters must be parked in legal drop areas (bike racks or designated pads).
  • Pets are not allowed on campus.
    • Certified service animals are permitted but must remain leashed at all times.
  • Guests are not permitted.
    • Exception: Minor children (under 18) may accompany a parent or guardian member without a separate membership.
  • Members will be issued an official Gallaudet University ID card by the Department of Public Safety (DPS), which must be worn and visible at all times while on campus.
  • When Gallaudet University is closed for its annual Winter Break (December 24–January 2; dates may be extended) or due to inclement weather, all activities and campus access are suspended. Please check local news stations for inclement weather closure information before arriving on campus.

Parking and Transportation

  • All vehicles parked on the Gallaudet Campus must be registered with the university and hold an active parking permit.
    • To register your vehicle and purchase a parking permit, visit DPS, Parking and ID Services (Carlin Hall, Ground Floor) with your driver’s license and vehicle registration.
  • Overnight parking is not permitted.
  • Members with excessive parking or traffic violations may have their membership revoked.
  • Gallaudet University campus roads may not be used as shortcuts between public streets. Driving through campus from one gate to another solely to reduce travel time is prohibited.

Facilities Access

  • University buildings and facilities (pool, gym, lounges, etc.)—except the Student Academic Center—are not accessible to members unless part of a public activity or program.
  • Restrooms for members are available in the Student Academic Center, located across from the track on Lincoln Circle East.

Additional Policies

  • Gallaudet University reserves the right to revoke membership at any time.
  • Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Lost or stolen IDs must be reported to DPS immediately. A replacement fee of $20.00 applies.
