At the request of faculty leadership and with the full support of President Roberta J. Cordano and Interim Provost Jeff Lewis, Dr. Khadijat K. Rashid, ’90, who has served as Interim Dean of the Faculty since April 2020, has had the Interim designation removed. Dr. Rashid is now Dean of the Faculty.

During her three decades as a Gallaudet employee, Dr. Rashid has served in various roles, including Chair of the Department of Business (2007-2010), Chair of the University Faculty (2013-2016), and Dean of the School of Education, Business and Human Services (SEBHS) (2017-2020). She has had various leadership roles both on campus and in the United States government, including serving as a White House Fellow (2010-2011). During her time as SEBHS Dean, she oversaw eight departments which were primarily accredited professional and graduate programs. She has also published and presented on topics as varied as African economies, the relationship between deaf people and interpreters, and the impact of cochlear implants on deaf people. In addition to book chapters and peer-reviewed articles, she was co-editor of Citizenship, Politics, Difference, published in 2015.
