Gemma Gabor holds various interdisciplinary degrees in BS Psychology, AB Guidance and Counseling, Doctor of Medicine, MA in Christian Education, and MA in English Language Education from the Philippines. With over two decades of dedicated teaching experience, she has contributed significantly to the education of deaf and hard-of-hearing international students. Her teaching career began with seven and a half years at the School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS) at DLS-College of Saint Benilde in Manila, Philippines while at the same time involved with the deaf community in the Philippines. She then transitioned to the English Language Institute at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., USA, where she has been teaching for more than 10 years.
In addition to her teaching duties, she also serves as the program coordinator, academic adviser, the program's coordinator for the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) and recently added on the role of admissions counselor for ELI. She has been a member of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) since 2004. Her expertise is widely recognized, having presented as a lecturer at the Instituto Guatemalteco Americano (IGA) English Teachers’ Conference in Guatemala in 2012, and conducted workshops as invited lecturer in Abuja and Kaduna in Nigeria, in 2018. She has also been a guest panelist at several significant events, including the in-person PAIS-SSDIS Intersection Panel sessions at TESOL 2023, the National Deaf Center (NDC) in 2023, and the 2024 Literacy Information and Communication System (LINCS) event focusing on Deaf Adult English Language Learners (AELLs) webinars.
Beyond her professional achievements, she is passionate about creating art and traveling.
