The 13 Guiding Principles of the Black Lives Matter Movement
Shared from The Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center, an American Sign Language (ASL) translation of the 13 Guiding Principles of the Black Lives Matter movement.
The Clerc Center community firmly supports the Black Lives Matter movement. We believe that the only way to provide our students with the tools they need to understand and thrive in these times are through frank and thoughtful discussions and learning.
For the past two years, our teachers have worked with students to implement Black Lives Matter into our curriculum. As our own Kendall students said in the ASL translation of the 13 Guiding Principles of the Black Lives Matter movement:
We are choosing to focus on why Black Lives Matter because there is a crisis going on in the Black community. We want our students to be empowered to engage with the context in which we live.
