Course Overview

Linguistic Data Management is a seminar in which we closely examine the current theoretical frameworks and practices of linguistic data management. We will learn about principles and methods for linguistic data management including archiving, sharing, and citing of linguistic data, especially digital data. Such work requires the collection, transcription, annotation, analysis, storage and sharing of language data. We will examine the lessons they teach and consider them for our own data. If students do not have data of their own, the instructor will provide access to an ASL dataset.
