Course Overview

This course is the first in a sequence that orients students to professional practice. In this course, students develop and apply techniques for analyzing their work in interpreted interactions and working with teams. Ethics and role of the interpreter in various settings are also introduced as a part of directed observation of various encounters. Observations will be accompanied by in-class discussions and analysis including logistical and environmental factors as well as discourse-based and ethically constrained decision-making issues common to these types of encounters.
