Gallaudet University uses the Career Framework to categorize each regular status and extended temporary position, with the exception of union positions. Each compensation grade is assigned to a track and level, which is intended to categorize jobs based on the primary functions and levels of the job, including but not limited to scope of responsibility, complexity of duties, and required qualifications.

The Career Framework was implemented in Fall 2021 with the following objectives:

  • Provide a common structure and consistent language to guide conversations about roles, levels, and career progression.

  • Increase transparency around career opportunities, support talent retention and recognition, and promote internal equity.

  • Streamline job titles so they more accurately reflect the role and type of work performed while aligning more closely with industry standards.

All regular status and extended temporary employees, except for Union employees, can identify their assigned track and level by reviewing the compensation grade listed in their Workday profile. Employees can review the Career Framework for more information about tracks, levels, and career progression.
