In order to remain competitive, Gallaudet University offers a generous total rewards package. Our total rewards package includes fair and competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, career development and opportunities, generous paid time off, flexibility and work-life balance, discounted meals at the Marketplace and Java Corner, both located in the I. King Jordan Student Academic Center, and a wide array of resources and facilities.This page focuses on the generous benefits offered to our regular status employees and eligible temporary employees. Current employees may review the total reward benefits through Workday under Compensation. However, it does not capture the value of the other benefits the University. Below is a list of benefits that Gallaudet University pays into:
* FERS (16.6% to 18.4% of the base salary)
* TSP (Up to 5% of the base salary)
* Health insurance (72%-75% of the total premium)
* Life insurance (1/3 of the total premium for basic life insurance)
* Tuition benefits
* Generous paid leave program including:
* Annual leave for staff (13 to 26 days per calendar year)
* Sick leave for staff (13 days per calendar year)
* Parental leave (8 weeks)
* Medical leave for faculty (two semesters)
* Sabbatical leave for faculty
* Access to the D.C. Paid Family Leave
* 17 paid holidays (including Fall break and Winter break)
* Employee Assistance Program (which provides up to ten free sessions for employees and their household members)
* Worker’s Compensation
* Professional Development
Below is an example of the total reward compensation for an employee who earns $80,000 per year. Please note this does not factor in some benefits, such as paid leave and tuition, as mentioned above.
